Research Center for Environmental Pollutants (RCEP)

Growing of development index can cause harmful effects on human and environments in the scale of global, regional and national. Emerging pollutants as environmental pollution treat for human health and environments. However, decision making in this situation, especially in developing countries, should be on scientific and research foundations. To respond to these needs, Research Center for Environmental Pollutants (RCEP) as one of the research centers of Qom University of Medical Sciences was established. RCEP was officially approved on November-December 2011 by the Vice-chancellor for Researches and Technologies and definite approval of this center was obtained on December 2017.

RCEP scope:  

- Detection, tracking and risk assessment of environmental pollutants (e.g. heavy metals, POPs, pathogenic microorganisms, antibiotic resistance, etc.) in the different sources of the central region of Iran, especially Qom province;

- Preparation of executive manual for the detection and control of environmental chemical and microbial pollutants;

- Professional consulting for regional and national industry;

- Planning and implementing practical workshops;

- Academic collaboration for the definition, design, and implementation of the projects;

- Identifying and presenting the best solution for industrial pollutants

RCEP priorities:

- New research for source tracking and control of environmental pollutants;

- Focus on the solving of the present environmental problems in the regional domain;

- Determination of research and technological gaps in the remove or reduce of indoor/outdoor pollutants;

- Supporting practical projects and researches
